The results are in.......Gelatos!

This week we are focusing on dry to wet products or products that are water activated.  Products like: Gelatos, Twinkling H2Os and watercolor pencils.  I choose to focus on Gelatos.  They are such a fun product to work with. So many possibilities.

May 2nd Projects: Paint

It is time to play with paint.  While it is indeed Monday instead of Friday....it is always a good time to play with paint. :)  Even though paint is messy, I find it to one of the most satisfying mediums to work with.  I love that I can easily create any color I want to just my mixing a few colors together.  In my stash of idea books, I have one that shows you how to mix certain colors together.  I highly recommend a color mixing book.

Project #36-Project Inspiration
I wanted to leave the brush strokes so I could easily identify it as paint in my ATC display.

Ribbon: Projects #32, 33, 34 and 35.

It's Friday!

And that means it is time to share our work.  Since I LOVE ribbon....this was an easy week for me. :)

Project #32: Project Inspiration
To me, the best part about ribbon is that it comes in so many styles, textures and colors.  The possibilities are endless.

Supplies:  Ribbon, card stock, die (Spellbinders) and brads.

Project #33: Hello
Remember those four supplies I said I would work with.  Here they are. I did have to make a change...I opted to watercolor paper instead of white card stock.  The white card stock did not work well with the misting spray.  As I said in my Monday post, limiting my supplies pushes my creativity.  For me, that is always a good thing.:)

Supplies:  Card stock, watercolor paper, Glimmer Mist, die (Spellbinders), epoxy stickers, ribbon/trim (Maya Roads), brown pen, sentiment stamp and black ink.

Project #34: This is Family
One of my many favorite types of ribbon is printed twill ribbon.  I love the extra texture it can bring to my scrapbooking.

Supplies:  Printed twill ribbon, card stock, pattern paper (DCWV), die-cuts (Fancy Pants), photo turns, brads, stamps (Bo Bunny and Magnetic Poetry), black ink, embossing powder and button.

Project #35: Top of the Class

Supplies:  Printed twill ribbon, card stock, pattern paper (DCWV), stamps (Bo Bunny), die-cut (Fancy Pants), black ink, embossing powder, photo turns, brads and button.

Now it's your turn.....so me your ribbon love. :)

Alcohol Inks: Projects # 28, 29, 30 and 31.

Happy Friday,

I had a ton of fun this week playing with alcohol inks.  I leaned news ways to use them and discovered just how versatile they can be.

But before we start with my alcohol ink projects we have a re-do from last week.  My charm ATC was just not cutting it for me.  So I re-did it over the weekend.  Much better.  I still love the bow.  I am happy so say that I have finally mastered the bow.  If you want to learn my secrets join me for The Love of Ribbon.

Project #28: Project Inspiration-Alcohol Inks
I used alcohol inks both to color the image and the edges of this ATC card.

Supplies:  Alcohol Inks, blending solution, butterfly stamp (Martha Stewart), transparency (I actually used left over product packaging and cut it to ATC size, then layered it over the pattern paper), pattern paper, white paint, Stazon ink and brads.

Project #29: Have a Great Day
An added benefit this week is that I was also able to use some unused stamps.  That always makes me happy. :)

Supplies:  Alcohol Ink, blending solution, blending tool, cardstock, glossy paper, woven paper (DWCV), stamp (Hero Arts), Stazon Ink, black ink, baker's twine, banner die (Spellbinders), rhinestones and pop-dots.

Project #30: Thinking of You

Supplies:  Alcohol Inks, blending tool, die-cut (Maya Roads), stamp (Fiskars and Tim Holtz), ink, die (Spellbinders), card stock, ribbon, pearls and brads.

Project #31: Happy Birthday
I think this is my favorite project of the week.....but it is hard to choose.  So many ideas and so little time.  I still have a number of techniques I would like to try.

Supplies:  Alcohol Inks, metal sheets (QuicKutz-you could also use plumber's tape), gesso, standing block, black and white ink, embossing folder, stamp (sentiment), bottle cap, epoxy sticker, dies (Papertrey Ink), circle punch, card stock and ribbon.

I hope everyone has a wonderful and crafty Easter weekend.  I am currently putting the finishing touches of my son's Easter egg hunt.  Should be a fun one this year.

Buttons: Projects #23 & 24

Happy Friday,

I hope you are having a very crafty day....and weekend.  It is time to share our button projects.

Project #23: Project Inspiration
One of my favorite ways to use buttons is to enhance shapes or create them solely from buttons.

Supplies:  Buttons, card stock, pattern paper (Die Cuts With a View), floss, die (QuicKutz), paint, ink stamps (Papertrey Ink) and black pen.

Project #24-Christmas 2013 Title Page
I am happy to say that I got a little scrapbooking done.  This is the title page for my 2013 Christmas mini-album.  And I even manged to organize a few additional pages to work on this week. :)

Supplies:  Pattern paper and stickers (Simple Stories), buttons, charm and burlap.  Die Cuts with a View has a brand new burlap stack....which I LOVE. But I still have not idea why burlap become so hot.  I guess everything old does become new again. :)

I have finish my 1st Project Inspiration ATC tray.  I can't wait to hang it on the wall and start on the next one.  Seeing it when I go into my craft room inspires me to continue creating.  So I guess it is successful project. :)

Thanks for stopping by!

February 28th: Projects #17-20

Hey Fellow Crafters,

Here is this Friday's post.  It includes my Washi tape projects and color/watercolor pencils.  I learned a lot the past two weeks.  I learned that I have much to learn regarding color pencils.....much to learn.  I will definitely be checking out Marie Browning's classes for additional help.

Project #17: Note Card Using Washi Tape
This was a fun card to create.  I found many examples of artists using Washi tape to fill in cut-outs.  I already had the base card, which I cut out using my Cricut.

Supplies: Card stock, Cricut (base card), stamp (Club Scrap), Prima Flowers, ink and brad.

Project #18: Project Inspiration-Using Washi Tape
I also discovered that Washi tape embosses very nicely.  I realize now that the fact that some Washi tape is also transparent adds a nice touch this project.  After embossing the two almost become one.

Supplies:  Card Stock, Washi tape, embossing folder and ink.

Project #19: Project Inspiration-Color Pencils.....Epic Fall
I have always promised to show you the good, the bad and the ugly.  This is NOT good.  I have a set of soft lead Prisma color pencils.  They are supposed to blend quick nicely.  I don't know it it was my blending solution or the pencils.  The colors also seemed to get muddy the more I tried to blend them. UGG!

Take Two:  After doing a little research I discovered that Prisma also makes a colorless blending pencil.  I purchased one and the results were much improved.  I still have much to learn, but I am making progress.

Supplies: Color Pencils (Prisma), stamps (Tim Holtz), ink and card stock.

Project #19: Project Inspiration-Watercolor Pencils
This is my watercolor Project Inspiration ATC card.  My 1st ATC board is almost full and I love the way it looks. :)

Supplies: Card stock, stamps (Tim Holtz), watercolor pencils and ink.

Thanks for stopping by,

January 24th Projects: Spellbinders. Projects #5-7

Happy Friday,

That means it is time to share our work.  I always love working the Spellbinders and other low profile dies.  They are just so easy to use.  I had a few other cards rolling around in my head...but I decided to stop.  Besides I would not have finished them before today anyway.  I imagine many upcoming projects will also include dies.  I find it hard to complete a project without them. :)  Especially a card.

Project #5 ATC Card for Project Inspiration
This is my favorite project from this week.

Supplies:  Dies (Spellbinders/Layered Flowers and Floral Flourishes), card stock, pattern paper, ink, gems and pop-dots.

Project #6: Exploring the Houston Area
My scrapbook layout for the week.  I am starting to feel  more comfortable with scrapbooking again, but I am struggling a bit with titles.  Actually I never liked adding the title.  Sign.....maybe it will get better this time around.  Anyway, Spellbinders are great for journaling spots.

Supplies:  Dies (Spellbinders/Label, QuicKutz/Scallop Border, Tim Holtz/Tattered Flower), arrows and tags (Cricut), pattern paper (Fancy Pants), card stock, stickers, stamps, ink, grey and black pens, brads, button, charm and clock face.

Project #7-Note Card
Time to break out a new Club Stamp kit.  Actually I got this one a few weeks ago and I needed to use it before the next one comes.  I love the colors in this kit.

Supplies:  Dies (Spellbinders/Oval and Label & QuicKutz/Flourish), card stock, pattern paper (Club Stamp/Aspen), stamps (Club Stamp/Aspen), ribbon, button, ink, chalk and gems.

Now it is time to share your work.  You can post using the link below or post your work in the My Creative Life 2014 classroom.

Thanks for stopping by.

Project Inspiration

Hey Crafters!

I wanted to give you a little bit more information regarding my Project Inspiration project.  Many, many moons ago I created the flower pots below.  Inside the pots I made 'flowers' for products and techniques I wanted to use.  They were reminders of what supplies I had and techniques I wanted to use.  For new projects I will pull 2 or 3 flowers to work from.  It really helped to limit my choices.  Unfortunately the posts were broken in a move.

So enter Project Inspiration, Part 2.  I actually started the project a couple of years ago....but just ran out of time.  Now we are settled into our new home and I have a perfect home for theses ATC holders.  I have a wall in my craft room that I can line up 6 to 8 of these holders.  So I will be creating an ATC card for each topic this year and adding them to my inspiration wall. :)

Why do this project?  How often do we say....if I can't see something I won't use it.  Which means we often have a hard time putting things away.  Unfortunately it is hard to work in a room when everything is 'out'.  This was a happy middle ground for me.

I will be talking more about Project Inspiration in the My Creative Life 2014 class.  Be sure to join us for this free class.

See you in the classroom,
Jeri Parks
