The Class-Open for Enrollment

Join the 1500+ students who have already completed Time Management for the Creative Soul.

This workshop is currently closed for enrollment.  It will re-open for enrollment in January.

If only I had more time. How often do we say that? How often do we push away things we say are important because of all of our other obligations? How often do we fill what little free time we have with time wasters?
The truth is we all have the same amount of time. Time is the one constant in our lives. But it is up to you to choose what you do with that time.

After years of time management training and teaching I hope to help you get the most out of your creative time.  Maybe you are lucky enough to have unlimited creative time or maybe you only have a few minutes a day.  Either way, this class will help you get the most out of the time you have.

By the end of this class you will:
  • develop a better vision of who you are as a crafter and/or artist.
  • learn ways to calm the chaos of our busy lives.
  • discover you really do have time to be creative.
  • learn ways to make creativity a part of your daily life.
  • discover how to change old habits and develop new ones.
  • learn the importance and pitfalls of organizing and to do lists and how they can work for you.
  • receive and complete a workbook to help complete the workshop.
  • learn and develop ways simplify the process without giving up your ‘stash’.

Course Outline:
  • Lesson One: What is a Creative Statement. In this lesson we will begin the process of writing a creative statement.  You will learn how a creative statement can help you find more time for creativity and how to get the most out of that time.
  • Lesson Two: Writing Your Statement. In Lesson Two we will take everything we learned in Lesson One and use it to write your personal creative statement.
  • Lesson Three: Goals and To Dos.  You have a creative statement…...now what?  In Lesson Three we will talk about goals and to do lists.
  • Lesson Four: The 15 Minute Challenge and Simplifying the Creative Process.  How can we make the most of our time without giving up all of our ‘stuff’.  We will discuss how to get started when you only have a few minutes to play.
  • Lesson Five: The Perils of Purging.  After completing Lessons One to Four you may decide it is time to let go of some of your supplies.  Time to send them to a new home.  In Lesson Five we will discuss how to manage that process without feeling overwhelmed or worse yet…..guilty.

Student Feedback:
"I would just like to say that writing things down has really helped. One of the things that I noticed is that I like to experiment, and instead of thinking that I have made a mess and not finished anything, I now understand that this is part of my creativity and I will finally come up with something I like. Amazing what writing something down does for you." ~ previous Time Management student

"I printed my Creative Statement on a page with another quote, and it's right in front of me every day, along with some other quotes and pictures of my kids and grandkids. I'm actually quite amazed at what I've accomplished. In my earlier posts, I complained that I wasn't accomplishing anything since I retired. Well, that sure has changed! Thank you, Jeri!" ~ Margaret, previous Time Management student

"I was so happy that you made us do these activities, Jeri, because even though I was one of those who groaned when I saw it, they really helped me get specific, like you said." ~ JeniRuth, previous Time Management student

"What I want to share is that I realize how blessed I am. I have a craft room, a husband who is very supportive of my creative ventures, and I am retired! What I need to do is re-organize my space. I am very lucky to have this as my problem so I just wanted to say Thank you for making me sit down and think of what I do have and how better to use it." ~ Mary Lou, previous Time Management student

"I've really enjoyed all of the presentations and exercises, and learned a lot from them. Jeri is personable and to the point, and moves things along at a good pace. I love to write, and I love to get organized, so this process was right up my alley! The best part was making action plans for my goals and then the to-do lists. Time management has always been a problem for me, and more so since I retired - no routine, no plan, no accomplishment! I feel that this will definitely help me be more focused on my crafts and to get things done." ~ Margaret, previous Time Management student

  2. I got into sewing 18" doll clothes and liked the joy it gave to the little girls I gave them to. Christmas was my deadline. Now I have no deadline just want some done for their birthdays. I think it would be nice to have a homemade card to put in with the clothes. So I need to get reorganized what I have messed up along with some more and manage my time to get it all done. I'm in.

  3. I'm hoping this class will help me set and meet a goal of getting organized and creating 1 scrapbook page and 1 card each week. I would like to set aside 1 day a week to do this. I know that I won't always be able to meet that goal but hope to keep trying and perhaps occassionally make up what I miss in a fit of creativity!

    1. Sue,

I think your goals are very reasonable. But i totally understand that sometimes life just gets to busy. We will talk about finding even a small amount of time. It is truly amazing what I can do with even 15 to 20 minutes if I am focused on what I want to get done.

  4. I have just finished a massive cleaning, reorganization, etc of my craft space, ( and my office space) and have been left with empty flat work areas and an aching back. It was worth it when I realized how many unfinished projects and tools had just gotten buried. I was spending all my time looking rather than doing. I am hoping to be better disciplined about tidiness and finding time to craft every day. My "sunny" disposition goes behind a cloud if I realize that I worked all day and didn't get a little fun, creative time in.

    1. LOL at the aching back. Crafting should never hurt. Sounds like you are set and ready to go. And I agree, we should all find a little time each day for a little fun. I never want to get so old that I don't have time for fun and play...cuz that will make me really old. LOL!

  5. I look forward to this new year and new creative life! My creative time seems to always get put on the back burner and I really want to make it part of life again. Crafting is my stress release and you couldn't use stress release...lol. And I'm also in the process of setting up a craft room so I think will be a great fit for me. Thank you for offering this class. I'm all signed up.

  8. Hello. I'm new to the site and blog, and I don't know how the classes work. Is there any written material or videos provided for this particular class, or am I supposed to just follow along with the blog entries? I'm not sure if I'm doing things right or looking in the right place. I know I must have entered my enrollment key around 5 times but nothing happened. Thanks for your help and the class. I can't wait to start making the projects and sharing them with all of you.

  9. This is my year to organize my studio! I have already taken most of my card and scrapping supplies to a local art center. They store my "stuff" and in return I teach a monthly class. But, my studio is still FULL! And, I just can't make myself drop any type of craft because I love all of them.

  10. I am so seriously far behind. I'm still working on my Creative Plan and trying to assemble to binders. But I've looked at the cards and am ready to start that. I'd forgotten about embossing on dark backgrounds.

  11. In the beginning of this class, you gave layouts for a creative journal. Mine has morphed into something that fits me perfectly. I have pages with small samples of my favorite papers & a color inventory of my copic markers. I have all the materials from classes I have taken and I have begun a keeping pictures of anything I make. This is because of "My Creative Life".

I can grab this little binder when I head out to the craft stores and have everything I need right at hand. Realizing how helpful this has been, I now have an inventory of my stamps (with sentiments, etc - not picture stamps), my copic markers, and all my stamp pads and reinkers on my phone. Because of you, when I head to the store, I'm ready for bear!

I hope your summer is restful and you regain your health. What you do is greatly appreciated.
