The future is NOW!

"A journey is a person in itself; no two are alike....and all plans, safeguards, policing and coercion are fruitless.  We find that after years of struggle that we do not take a trip, a trip takes us." ~ John Steinbeck

Today is a bittersweet day for me.

Today I am officially saying good-bye to My Creative Classroom.  It is hard to put into words what it feels like to close a business.  Truth be told, I have a hard time describing what it is like to own a business.  It is kinda like being a parent.  It is hard for one to understand unless they experience it.

Over the past 6 months I had my share of ups and downs with my decision.  A few pity parties and plenty of beating myself up over disappointing so many people.  It is so easy to focus on the negative rather then focusing on all we achieved.

Then today I had a bit of a light bulb moment.  (In the mist of a crazy morning....we overslept, still needed to check math homework and get our son off to school.....it was a bit crazy.)  I realized that if I was changing jobs, I would not feel like this.  Sure I would feel sad to say good-bye, but I would also feel excited about new opportunities, challenges and adventures.  And owning a business is definitely and adventure. :)

So today I say good-bye to to the past and hello to the future.  And the future looks great!  I am excited to be updating the blog and adding new content.  We have some fun things in store for you.  I am excited that I get to focus on the things I love most and spend more time in the classroom.  And best of all...spend more time here....with you. :) I hope you will continue on the journey with me.  You can visit our new site at www.craftclassesonline.com.

We are very exited to be offering new classes especially for creative instructors.  Through the years we have had to turn away many instructors from MCC as we just did not have the time nor the space to accommodate all of the requests.  So it thrills me to no end to be able to help more instructors learn how to host their classes online.

If you have ever want to to teach online....now is the time.

Are you interested in teaching online creative workshops? Maybe you are brand new to online learning and don't know where to start? Maybe you have been teaching for a while but are looking for ways to improve. Give us 4 weeks and we will help you build a better online workshop from the ground up.

Online workshops have exploded in the past five years. As the market becomes more and more crowded it gets harder and harder to stand out. Together Jeri' Parks and Shirley Pando have over 25 years of experience in teaching and crafting. During this workshop we will share what we have learned.

Next week we will start to re-launch the My Creative Life 2014 blog, I have a lot to say. :)  Then on the week of Sept 24th we will start product challenges again.  While I am not yet ready to tell you what product we will be starting with...I am, as always, excited to get started.  So many ideas are bouncing around my head.

Thanks for stopping by,
Jeri'

  2. Your hiatus has forced me to really look at my craft space & focus on what I want to accomplish before the year ends!

Going through my stuff has uncovered some hidden jewels & some stuff I need to let go of...I just refuse to part with my rusty pickle & junkitz stuff...lol

    1. I love Rusty Pickle and Junkitz. I know I still have some in my stash. I may have to use them for a few projects. :)

Sounds like you have been very busy. I hope you have been creating along with your organizing.

  3. My husband has started, built and sold 3 businesses while always moving onward and upward. It's always sad to say goodbye, but as you said, there should be excitement about a new venture. Hoping to see some good new classes very soon.

  4. Hi Jeri - Sorry to be so long in replying to your e-mails. I am not interested in teaching, but always like to refresh how to use old products, and learn about new ones. I have a very busy life, caregiver for my husband who has Parkinsons and a weak heart. And I am so lucky that occasionally I get to look after my 3 year old grandson when his mother has to go out of town with her job. It keeps me busy just making cards for my family and friends. I do have a blog where I post them. http://mycraftingplace.blogspot.ca/ I would like to stay on your mailing list as I would still like to do some some short classes re products even if it takes me a little longer than it should to finish. I do not have a cricut, so that rules out those classes. Your new venture sounds very adventurous and I am sure it will go very well for you!

    1. Thank you Jackie for your kind words and support. It is the support from my students and Shirley that has kept me in the game. Without that I would probably would have stopped. Although it does appeal to me to just craft for myself. Fortunately I get to do that a bit more now. I am glad you get to spend so much time with your grandson. I often wish we lived closer to family. Enjoy that time. :)

And I do have a new class planned for the fall....so watch for that.
