5 Ways to Use Inks Without Using Stamps

As I thought about this week's challenge, ink, I struggled with what to do.  I could have just created a stamped card.  But that felt really predictable to me.  That was just too easy.  So I flipped through magazines, idea books and Pinterest for inspiration.

I finally decided it might be fun to work with inks without just using stamps.  So I came up with 5 ways to use inks without using stamps.  I am certain there are way more then 5 ways, but a girl only has so many hours in a day. :)  I will still be using stamps this week, but the challenge was not about stamps, it was about ink.  So I wanted to make ink the star of the show.  For most of my cards I use two shades from Tsukineko: Grape Jelly and Tangelo.  The colors were perfect for my Halloween cards.

#1-Watercolor/Marbled Tag
This is one of favorite ways to create a background.  It is simple and fast and the results are amazing.  Simple apply some ink to your craft mat, add water and drag the tag through the color.

Supplies: Ink (Tsukineko/Grape Jelly and Tangelo), water, tag, card stock, pattern paper (Little Yellow Bicycle), dies (Spellbinders/Labels 20), stamps (Just Right Stampers/Fleur De Lis and Halloween Minis), washi tape and brads.

#2: Misting Sprays
You can easily make misting sprays from re-inkers.  Just place water and a few drops of ink into a Mini Mister.  For extra sparkle try adding Perfect Pearls to the mix.

Supplies:  Ink (Distress Ink), card stock, pattern paper (Little Yellow Bicycle) and brads.

#3: Watercolor Paints
Yes, you can color with your inks.  Just apply them to your craft mat and then pick up the ink with a water pen or paint brush.

Supplies: Ink (Tsukineko), card stock, pattern paper, stamps (See-Ds), die (Just Rite Stampers), black pen, water pen, square punches, ribbon, pop-dots and Dew Drop (Robin's Nest.)

#4: Faux Letterpress with Embossing Folders
Add a little ink to the raised area of an embossing folder for a fun, faux letterpress look.

Supplies: Ink (Tsukineko/Grape Jelly and Tangelo), embossing folder, pattern paper (Little Yellow Bicycle), stamp (Just Rite Stampers/Mini Halloween) and pop-dots.

#5-4 Product Challenge/Ink and Stencils
This card is for the 4 Product Challenge.  Shirley, my partner in crime, often reminds me that anything can be a stencil....so I got creative this time around.  Be sure to sign up for our newsletter (see below) to see this week's process video.

Supplies: Ink (Tsukineko/Grape Jelly and Archival Ink/Black), stamps, black pen, trim, pattern paper (Little Yellow Bicycle), brads, metal corners and pop-dots.

Want to know what I did and how I did it, then be sure to sign up for our newsletter.  On Monday I will be sending out my process video.  I will talk about all 5 projects and you will see my process for creating the Goblins card.  Newsletter Signup.

Now it is your turn.  Do you have a favorite way to use your inks that does not include stamping.  Like I stated earlier, there are way more then 5 ways to use ink without stampsr so share you ideas too. :)  Then post your work below.

One final note.  This post was originally planned for Friday.  If you stopped by on Friday then you probably saw my note about running out of time and having to volunteer at my son's school for his 1st intermediate school 'dance'.  We had a good time or at least we survived. :)

Happy crafting and thanks for stopping by.
